Douglas E. Grubel, age 60 of Sycamore, died at Wyandot Memorial Hospital on Saturday Feb. 7, 2015 at 1:35am. He was born on Dec. 12, 1954 in Upper Sandusky to the late John Owen Grubel and Anna D. (Lawhead) Grubel whom survives in Upper Sandusky. On Aug. 22, 1981 he married Carol Schoenberger. Mr. Grubel is survived by a daughter Kristen (Sean) Duffy of Twinsburg, OH, son Stephan (Elizabeth) Grubel of Upper Sandusky, a sister Beth (Kenneth) McVicker of Temperance, MI, two brothers Keith (Joan) Grubel of Rossville, IN and Dennis (Nedra) Grubel of Clairmont, CA. He was preceded in death by an infant brother Nelson Grubel. Doug graduated from Mohawk High school class of 1973 and in 1975 graduated from OSU Agricultural Technical Institute in Wooster. He became a farmer and had worked for Millington/Worthington Plastics as a laborer and other factories in the area. Mr. Grubel was Past Master of the former Wyandot Lodge which consolidated with Enterprise Masonic Lodge #579, Sycamore. He was a member of the Upper Sandusky Council #98 and a member of McCutchen Chapter #96 Royal Arch Masons, Order of Eastern Star Past Patron of William Myers Chapter #196 which merged with Warpole Chapter #366 presently serving as Worthy Patron. He also was a 35 year Masonic member and 26 year member of Eastern Star. Mr. Grubel was an active member of the Trinity United Church of Christ, McCutchenville, where he was an Elder, Deacon. A funeral service will be held Wednesday Feb. 11, 2015 at 10:30am in BRINGMAN CLARK Funeral Home with Rev. David Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Schoenberger Cemetery in Salem Twp. Visitation will be held from 2-4pm, & 6-8pm on Tuesday Feb. 10, 2015 at the funeral home with Order of Eastern Star Memorial Service at 8:00pm and Masonic Memorial Service at 8:15pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ, McCutchenville or Upper Sandusky Masonic Center in care of Bringman Clark Funeral Home 226 E. Wyandot Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
