John Hill Jones

Son of Chesley Jones and Zilpha Lodosky Connely. Husband of America Josephine Jones.

J.H. Jones, widely known Tuscaloosa County farmer, died of pneumonia Tuesday night at his home in the Gorgas Community after a 3 day illness. He was 74 years old and had resided in this county for 50 years. He was a native of Pickens County and a life-long member of the Methodist Church.
For 30 years Mr. Jones was superintendent of the Sunday School at Bethel Camp Ground Church. He also took a prominent part in community affairs and his passing will be widely mourned by a host of friends.
Funeral services were to be held this afternoon at 3 o'clock at Bethel Camp Ground Church with interment in the church cemetery.
Mr. Jones is survived by two daughters, Mrs. B.F. Dunn and Mrs. W.B. Collins of Gorgas, five sons, R.C. Jones of Riderwood, A.G. Jones of Birmingham, and A.M. Jones, L.M. Jones and P.H. Jones of Gorgas. There are also 28 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren surviving.
Pallbearers for services today were to be: Percy Dunn, Austin Collins, Loyl Jones, R.A. Jones, Theodore Jones and Max Jones, all grandsons of the deceased.
