Charles Clinton Bosley

DIGHTON - Charles C. Bosley, 83, died May 13, 2003, at Lane County Hospital, Dighton.
He was born Sept. 14, 1919, at Springfield, Colo., the son of Charles F. and Pearl R. Calhoun Bosley. He attended Healy Grade School and Dighton High School, Dighton, graduating with the class of 1938.
He was a farmer and stockman. He belonged to United Methodist Church, American Legion Post No. 190 and Barney Masonic Lodge No. 279, all of Dighton. He also belonged to Scott City Shrine Lodge, Scott City, and was a Dighton City Councilman for the past eight years.
He was a World War II veteran, assigned to the 14th Calvary at Camp Funston, the 9th Armored Division, helping to form the 711 Tank Battalion, and a tank driver for Company C. He participated in the invasion of Okinawa and received the Purple Heart.
On Jan 19, 1947, he married Mary Alice Durr at Dighton. She survives, of the home. Other survivors include: a son, Dennis, Topeka; two daughters, Barbara Bosley, Denver, and Joan Bosley, Garden City; his mother, Scott City; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father; a daughter, Susan Osborne; and a brother, Lewis Earl Bosley Sr.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at United Methodist Church, Dighton, with the Rev. Lennie Maxwell presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Boomhower Funeral Home, Dighton. Burial will be in Dighton Memorial Cemetery, Dighton, with graveside rites by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Memorials may be sent to United Methodist Church, Dighton, or Lane County Historical Society, both in care of the funeral home.
