Gerald Wayne Hubbard, Sr. was a native of Longview, Texas and a longtime resident of Baker, Louisiana.
He was born on September 23, 1936. He died at 7:15pm on October 29, 2014 with his wife by his side holding his hand at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital of complications following lung surgery.
He proudly served in the United States Navy. He retired from Turner Industries as a Quality Control Manager.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and proud of his family. He coached Little League baseball for many years for his children and grandchildren. He was always active with his family and an avid LSU fan.
He is survived by the love of his life and soulmate, his wife Irma Evans Hubbard; four sons, Gerald W. Hubbard Jr “Bo” and his wife Kristy; Matthew “Matt” Hubbard and his wife Natalie; John Hubbard and his wife Lisa; Stephen Hubbard and his wife Andrea; three daughters: Lisa Key and her husband Jimmy; Penny Hubbard; Shawn “Prissy” Vides and her husband Julio; grandchildren Joshua Hubbard and his wife Cheromie; Miranda Meredith and her husband Dale; Aramis Pepper and wife Sundee; Cliff, Joey and Robin Key and his fiance Hannah; Skyler Vides; Gerald W. “Trey” Hubbard III; Peyton and Dylan Hubbard; Jordan and Kyle Hubbard; and Courtney Pastorick; great-grandchildren Kyleigh and Taylor Meredith; Harliegh and Hadliegh Hubbard; April, Mason, and Conner Key; Aradee and Arason Pepper; and Evan Wayne Vides; three sisters, Winnie Grissom, Eleanor Henry; and Wanda Smith and her husband Mike; one brother, James Hubbard and his wife Geneva.
He was preceded in death by his beloved grandson and fishing partner, Evan Halston Vides; his parents Floyd M. and Ruby Lee Hubbard; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law Van and Katie Evans.
Visitation will be on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary from 5pm until 8pm and then on Monday, November 3, 2014 from 10am until funeral services at 12:30pm. Burial will be in Louisiana National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be “His Boys”, his four sons. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons.
