Mass of Christen Burial will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sauk Rapids for Richard L. Russell, age 72, Sauk Rapids, who died Wednesday at his home. Rev. Ronald Weyrens will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Richard was born January 2, 1933 in St. Paul to James & Sydne (Schaeffer) Russell. He served his country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Marine Corps. Richard married Joanne Clarke on June 2, 1956 in Reno, NV. He was self-employed as a Right of Way Engineer. He loved sports, card collecting, doughnuts, landscaping, and feeding the wildlife. Richard was a loving husband, father, grandmother and brother.
Survivors include his wife, Joanne of Sauk Rapids; sons and daughters, James (Donna) Russell of Rice, Anthony (Lori) Russell of St. Cloud, Mary (Mark) Zwilling of Foley, John Russell of Sauk Rapids, and Roxanne Russell of St. Paul; sisters, Joan (Don) Fish of Fergus Falls and Gay Meyers of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Christopher, Jennifer, Cory, Megan, Ryan, Tyler, Katrina, John, and Joshua.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents.
