Hazel L. "Zoe" Malcolm, 96, Berne, a longtime resident of Bluffton, died in Swiss Village [retirement community] Thursday. A resident of Swiss Village since 1984, she was in failing health the past two years.
She was born in Michigan and married Dr. Zander E. Malcolm; he died in March 1960.
She was a member of the Cross United Church of Christ in Berne and Psi Iota Xi sorority. Prior to her marriage, she was a teacher. In 1975, she was named Bluffton's Woman of the Year. Surviving are a daughter; a granddaughter and two great-granddaughters.
Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Thoma-Rich Funeral Home, Dr. William Huenemann of Berne officiating. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery, Bluffton. Visiting hours are 2-9 p.m. today.
