Bernard Neal Holley

Bernard Neal Holley, passed away July 30,2018 peacefully after a brief illness. He was 91 years old and was born in Leeds,Alabama on September 30,1926 to the late Odie and Hettie Davis Holley.
His brothers and sisters predeceased him. They were Elaine Stone and Larrayne Andress of Birmingham; Bill Holley and Winnie Daugherty of Columbus, Ga.; and Hal Holley of Leeds,Alabama.
They were a close family and he enjoyed entertaining them at his lake house on special occasions.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Marie and his daughter Pam and sister in law, Kathy Holley. Numerous nieces and nephews; Jerry Sansom ( James), Nannette Griffith, Larra and Harry Andress of Birmingham; Cookie Bagley (Bill) of Columbus, Ga.; L.C. Nickerson (Jean) of Huntsviille, Al. and Steve Holley of Anniston,Al.
Neal graduated from Leeds High School and then joined the United States Army. He served in World War II. After his honorable discharge, he attended Howard College ( Samford University) He was employed by Lone Star Cement as District Sales Manager and by Citadel Cement as Sales Manager. Upon his retirement, he joined the Birmingham Parking Authority where he worked for 20 years. He was an avid sports fan and played football for his high school alma mater and basketball for Howard College. He also coached these sports for YMCA during college.
Mr. Holley was a member of Liberty Park Baptist Church and served as secretary of his Sunday School class. The family would like to express appreciation to Faye Lawley for her excellent and loving care of Neal.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Ridouts Valley Chapel on Oxmoor Rd. with visitation from 1-2 and service to follow at 2:00 PM with a private graveside burial.
