Larrayne Holley

Larrayne Holley Andress, age 89, of Mountain Brook, AL, passed away Tuesday morning, December 28, 2010. She was born June 22, 1921 in Jacksons Gap, Alabama, to O.R. Holley and Hettie Mae Davis Holley. She attended Howard College, now Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, and she and her husband, Harry R. Andress Jr., were founding members of Briarwood Presbyterian Church. Larrayne was a member of the Brookhill Forest Garden Club and a founding member of the Amulet Club. During WWII, she worked for the War Price and Rationing Board. She and Harry enjoyed their many friends at the Alabama Gulf Coast and were active part-time residents of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. In addition to her parents and husband, Larrayne was preceded in death by her sister, Elaine Holley Stone, and brother, Reginald Holley. Survivors include Larrayne's grown children, Harry R. Andress III and Larrayne Davis Andress; sister, Winifred Daugherty of Columbus, Georgia; and two brothers, B.N. Holley (Marie) of Birmingham and H.L. Holley (Doris) of Leeds, Alabama. Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham, Alabama. The funeral service will be the same day at 3 p.m. in Southern Heritage Chapel, and the burial will follow in the adjoining Southern Heritage Cemetery, Pelham. The family expresses special thanks to Larrayne's caregivers.
