Newton Carlton Greer

Newton Carlton Greer was eighty-seven years old. He was a native Georgian born in Twiggs County. He was married in his early manhood to Miss Margaret Nelson, of Perry, and the two lived happily together for more than a half century, Mrs. Greer died about fifteen months ago.
There are six living children: E.L. Greer, of new Smyrna, Fla.; John W. Greer, of Moultrie; Logic (s/b Lovic) P. Greer, of Valdosta; Mrs. W. E. Fetch (s/b Futch), of Cleveland, Ohio; Mrs. J.W. Prince, of Fuqua Springs, N.C.; Mrs. H. Yancey, of Jacksonville, Fla.
Mr. Greer was a strong character, mentally, physically and spiritually. He served his country well in private life, and gave four years service to the cause of the south in the Civil War.
