Veronica Sharrod wrote,"Hello Rex, this may be of interest to you. My lovely brother Chris has emailed me the following this morning: 'Grandma told me that it was the 17/21st. Lancers but our cousin Chris researched and found this regmt. was not formed till 1922. We assume that he was part of one of those at some point. It was common to move troops between regmts. as they were often moved from place to place. I remember seeing a photo of a company of soldiers lined up in front of the pyramids, grandma said that's when your granddad was in Egypt.'
Chris Osborne wrote, "I took this photo of my granddad Ernest Albert Osborne to the Lancer museum they confirmed its a Lancer cap badge. they think its the 9th Lancers. My dad his son told me granddad was in the DEATH&GLORY Lancers so I think he was transferred to the 17th Lancers during ww1. I know he survived being gassed. By the time we the family members were told about him the 17th&21st had joined so I think that is where the confusion has come from."

Marriage
According to El Dean Wilson's notes, probably based on information received from Betty Osborne Fall, this marriage took place on 2 August 1919 in London, England. However, official records indicate that it was in Nuneaton. The photograph of this wedding appears to show the bride's elderly parents seated at the ends of the group, The groom's sisters Emma and Thelma seated in front wearing plaid dresses, and possibly the brothers of the bride and groom standing behind their shoulders. I do not know why the groom's parents are not in the photo.England and Wales, Death Registration Index 1837-2007:
