SHREVEPORT, LA - Services celebrating the life of Edgar F. Stephenson, 73, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 4, 2011 in the chapel of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home in Shreveport. Officiating will be Mr. Stephenson's brother Rev. Coyle Stephenson. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2011 from 5-7 p.m. at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home.
Edgar was born on July 19, 1937 in Shreveport, LA to Thomas and Estelle Stephenson and passed away on January 31, 2011. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church. Edgar was an avid golfer. He worked for and retired from Louisiana Paper Company after 39 years of faithful service.
Preceding Edgar in death were his parents and two brothers; Douglas and Tommy Stephenson.
Left to cherish beautiful memories of Mr. Stephenson are his beloved wife of 51 years Peggy Stephenson, children; Gaye Stephenson Munn of Dallas, TX and Robert "Bubba" Stephenson and wife Cheryl of Shreveport, LA, siblings; James Robert Stephenson and wife Annie of Shreveport, LA, Sue Kellogg of Bossier City, LA and Coyle Stephenson and wife Guianna of Greenville, TX, grandchildren; Tara Jones and husband Jonathan of Shreveport, LA, Luke Stephenson of Shreveport, LA, Joshua Stephenson of Shreveport, LA and Zachary Corbett of Dallas, TX, 2 great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
Honoring Mr. Stephenson as pallbearers will be Tom Tyler, Jeff Crane, Phillip Beavers, Larry Brossett, Charles Kellogg and Tom Palczynski.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff and caretakers at The Terrace in Shreveport as well as the doctors and nurses at Christus Schumpert Highland, 3rd floor PCU.
