Amos Samford graduated in 1946 from the University of Minnesota with a degree in electrical engineering. He was a building contractor and served in WWII in the Army, 1942-44. He was the son of Amos Carl (1886-1962) and Emma Powell Samford (1887-1956), of Montgomery, Ala. and Albany, Ga. His father also was a building contractor.
