Lena Zumo

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7. Lena Zumo Moore, born Feb. 24, 1924, passed away at age 85 on Friday, May 15, 2009. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother known for her kind and gentle manner. Lena is survived by her husband of 66 years, Henry Carmon Moore Sr. She is also survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Carmon and SuEllan Moore, of Hammond, and Will and Gwen Moore, of Baton Rouge. Grandchildren were the "heart" of her life, and she will be dearly missed by them, including Amy Weiss and husband Corey, Todd Moore and wife Kristy, Matt Moore and wife Lindsey, Brad Moore, Mandy Moore, Cooper Moore and Caleb Moore; and four great-grandchildren. Lena is also survived by a sister, Anne Holeman; and three brothers, Victor Zumo, John Zumo and John Gerage. Lena was a native of Baton Rouge, born to Anthony and Rose Zumo, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Josie Jones, Phyllis Anderson, Polly King and Frances Bello. Her grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Sunday, May 17, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on Monday, May 18, from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment in St. George Catholic Church Cemetery following Mass. The family offers deep gratitude to the loving staff of Flannery Oaks and Life Source Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the hospice agency of choice.
