Henry Carmon Moore Sr., born Feb. 18, 1923, in Floydada, Texas, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011, at his home in Central. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Henry served in the Navy during World War II and was retired from Ethyl Corp.
After dating for six weeks, Henry married Lena Zumo Moore and they celebrated 66 years of marriage before she preceded him in death two years ago. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Yancy Mings and Agnes Moore; brother, Morris Moore; and sister, Erma Dean Burgett.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Carmon and SuEllan Moore, of Hammond, and Will and Gwen Moore, of Central. Henry treasured moments with his grandchildren including, Amy Weiss and husband, Corey, Todd Moore, Matt Moore and wife, Lyndsey, Brad Moore, Mandy Moore, Cooper Moore and Caleb Moore; and six great-grandchildren. Henry is also survived by a sister, Coletta Moore Scott. Through kindness, patience and humor, he humbly lived his faith and family values, setting a beautiful example for family and friends. His grandsons, grandson-in-law and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are members of his Greenwell Springs Baptist Sunday School class, Harold Monk and Thomas LaPorte.
Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., Thursday, June 30, from 5 to 9 p.m. Visitation at Greenwell Springs Baptist Church on Friday, July 1, from noon until funeral service at 2 p.m.
Interment will follow at St. George Catholic Church Cemetery.
The family offers deep gratitude for the visits, prayers and support of friends and family and the loving staff of Home Instead Senior Care and Feliciana Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
