DIBOLL - Services for William "James" Johns, 79, Diboll, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Brother Horace Fletcher officiating.
Burial will be in Ryan Chapel Cemetery under direction of Gipson Funeral Home, Lufkin.
Mr. Johns died Aug. 14, 2007, in a local hospital.
He was born Aug. 23, 1927, in Emporia to the late James Alexander and Minnie Irene Moore Johns. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, and retired as a chemist from Trinity Portland Cement in Houston. He was a member and deacon of Hillcrest Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by son, Hollis Glenn Johns; six brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Allene Johns, Diboll; son, Thomas Ray Johns, Diboll; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Pallbearers are Thomas R. Johns Jr., Matt A. Johns, Peter A. "PJ" Johns, Andrew A. Johns, Jack Albonetti Jr. and Nelson Brimer.
Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
