Born in Sackets Harbor [Jefferson County, New York], he was a graduate of Syracuse University. He was district sales manager for Murray Co., of H.A. Johnson Co., IB Boston and host of the VanAlstyne, Sportsman's C.1946 Roundtable on WSYR radio. He was section chief of the National Ski Patrol, coach of Syracuse University's ski team and a member of the Onondaga Ski Club. He was a member of the Power Squadron, a training officer with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and a civilian Army recruiter in the 1940s. Survivors: His wife, Mary; a [daughter] of Manlius [Onondaga County, New York]; a son, Lawrence A. of Skaneateles [Onondaga County, New York]; a brother, Everett Jr. of Florida; a grandchild.
