MOSES LAKE, Wash.--Memorial services for Ellen Ann Clements, 88, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Lakeview Missionary Church in Moses Lake with Pastor John J. Roberts of Moses Lake Christian Church officiating.
Mrs. Clements died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 1997, at her daughter, Beth Yarbro's, home.
She was born on Dec. 3, 1909, in Paducah, Texas, to the Rev. C.E. and Hunter Belle Goodwin Jameson. She lived in several West Texas communities where her father served as a Methodist minister. She graduated from Memphis High School in 1927.
Mrs. Clements attended McMurray College in Abilene and graduated from West Texas state Teacher's College in 1931. She taught school for 37 years and served as junior high librarian for 15 of those years.
She married Tommy Tucker Clements on Jan. 17, 1941. They made Carlsbad their home until he died in December of 1994. She then moved to Moses Lake to be near her daughter and family.
Mrs. Clements was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, member of New Mexico Education Association, New Mexico Educational Retirees and Delta Kappa Gamma. She was loved as a teacher, who took a great interest in her students' welfare. Many continued to correspond with her through the years.
Survivors are her daughter, Beth Yarbro and husband, Chuck of Moses Lake; granddaughter, Lisa Barth and husband Todd and their children, Andrew, Christine and Jacob of Moses Lake; grandsons, Charles Yarbro, Jr., and his wife, Sara and children, Riggs, Chelsea and Tucker of Moscow, Idaho, and Benjamin Yarbro and wife, Valerie of Chicago; sister, Elizabeth Woodley and husband, Noel of Terrell, Texas; brother, J.S. Jameson and wife, Ethel of Stockton, Calif.; three nieces and two nephews.
She was affectionately known as "Memaw" to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many family friends. She is and will be missed for her influence, on her family and her many students, as a monument to a life well lived.
