Dula O'Zelle Horton

Dula Ozelle "Zelle" Horton Petmecky was born Sept 22, 1921 in Chillicothe, Hardeman, Texas, USA. She is the first child of Joseph Columbus and Ruth Viola Jones Horton. She was named after her paternal grandmother Dula Vermelle Graham Horton and maternal grandmother Ozell Dickens.
Zelle married Howell Ferdinand Petmecky May 9, 1945. They lived in Alaska for many years and their children Howell Joseph, James Allen, and Sally Ruth were all born in Alaska. Upon returning to Texas they bought and settled on their ranch in Dripping Springs, TX. Zelle taught school for many years at Dripping Springs.
Zelle was proceeded in death by her husband Howell, a grandson Josh, her parents Joe and Ruth Horton, 2 brothers Joseph Coyle Horton and Terrell Graham Horton. She leaves behind her 3 children and numerous grandchildren.
Zelle rests in the arms of her heavenly father. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Zelle Horton Petmecky Our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Zelle Horton Petmecky, age 84, went to heaven on June 3, 2006. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hal, on April 26, 1971. Zelle was born in Chillicothe, Texas, on September 22, 1921, to Joe and Ruth Horton. She is survived by her son, Hal Joe, his son Djo Petmecky and wife Scotta, former daughter-in-law Susan, and their children, granddaughters Chandelle Crane and husband Ron and sons Bryce and Seth; Sheila Hernandez and children Kaelynn and Jaron Hernandez; grandsons Donnie Petmecky and partner Anita; Jody Petmecky and wife Jamie; Jeremy Petmecky and wife Sarah; granddaughter Heidi Petmecky, and grandsons Jake and Bobby Petmecky; son Allen Petmecky; daughter Sally Taylor and husband James, grandson Jared Taylor and wife Amy, granddaughters Katie and Valeria Taylor, and grandsons Zachary and Alexander Taylor. Her sister, Barbara Brown, and brother Jack Horton also survive her, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Petmecky resided on a ranch near Dripping Springs for many years. She loved the ranch life and was a true pioneer, and was very independent. She taught school in Dripping Springs for many years, and is fondly remembered by many people. She also taught school in Alaska for 12 years. She was a faithful member of the Dripping Springs Church of Christ. Services will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2006, at 2:30 p.m., at the Dripping Springs Church of Christ. Obituary and guestbook online at http://wcfish.com
