Lillie Mae Harris was legally committed to the Cornish Children's Home in Ringling, Oklahoma. Her legal guardian, M. E. Harris, Manager of the Cornish Children's Home, wrote to the Waurika County Clerk requesting that a marriage license be issued to G. B. Floyd and Lillie Mae Harris, who was then seventeen years of age.
G. B. Floyd's father, W. R. Floyd, also wrote a note requesting that a marriage license be issued to his son, who was then eighteen years of age.
