Myrtle O. Mann, 92, of Cook, died Monday, Nov. 29, 1999, as the result of an auto-pedestrian accident in Cook.
She was born on March 17, 1907, at Meadowbrook, near Cook, the daughter of George and Mary (O'Toole) Lindsey. She grew up on the family homestead in Meadowbrook. In the 1920s, she had worked at the boarding house in Cusson, the telephone offices in Buhl and Virginia, and the Androy Hotel in Hibbing. She was united in marriage to Floyd G. Mann on Jan. 13, 1930, in Hibbing. She had resided in the Cook area since her marriage. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Cook, and was a dedicated volunteer for the Retired Volunteer Senior Program. She was known for her care and nurturing of her flower gardens, was an avid berry picker, and took pride in her independence of being able to do her own work, including mowing her own lawn. She will be sadly missed by family and friends.
She is survived by a son, Robert (Betsy),; two daughters, Donna (Donald) Barnes, and Linda (Arnie "Pete") Johnson; two sisters, Goldie Mihm of, and Olive (Clifford) Rasch; four grandchildren, Debbie (Bruce) Maki, Diane (Alan) Brunner, Larry (Becky) Barnes and Shane Johnson; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd, on Nov. 29, 1984; two brothers, Howard and George Lindsey; five sisters, Violet Mellak, Lily Thon, Pansy Starkovich, Gladys Palma and Rose Lindsey, who died in childhood.
