Onis A. "Fred" Knight Jr., 84, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 18, 2012. Funeral: 11:30 a.m. Friday in Greenwood Chapel. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Greenwood Funeral Home.
Fred was born Dec. 29, 1927, to O.A. Knight Sr. and Alice Coleman Knight. He retired from Container Corporation of America and Lehman Container after a combined 50 years in the box business. Fred was veteran of the United States Army, serving in Korea. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather and father-in-law, and friend who will be missed greatly. Fred loved music and entertained the family playing his banjo, mandolin and fiddle. He loved camping with friends and family in Red River County, where he spent many happy summers as a child. Fred was preceded in death by his brother, John W. Knight; and one son-in-law, Lawrence R. Mitchell.
Survivors: Wife of 62 years, daughters, eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
