Shelby S. Bertram

Shelby S. Bertram was born 14 Feb 1844 in Kentucky to Lorahama Emazetta (Blevins) and Rev. Ephraim Bertram. He married three times. He married 1st Martha Jane Flowers on 06 Apr 1865 in Barren Co., Kentucky; 2nd Rosetta Parker on 18 Apr 1898 in Ozark Co., Missouri; 3rd Mrs. Alice A.(Borders)Beard between 1900-1910. His third wife is buried beside him in Iowa and they share an impressive headstone. Shelby's middle initial, however, is incorrectly given as W on the stone. Shelby S. Bertram was a Union soldier in Company E, 9th Kentucky Infantry during the Civil War and was later in the Grand Army of the Republic or GAR. He was also an Odd Fellow. He and Alice were Baptists. During his life time he lived in Kentucky, Missouri and Iowa.
