Funeral service for Mrs. Sara Nell Reed, 85, of Alexander City, will be Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Dr. Albert Pike will officiate. Burial will follow in the Alexander City Cemetery.
Mrs. Reed passed away on Monday, February 13, 2012 at her residence. She was born on Jan. 4, 1927 in Andalusia, AL to Joseph Lee Harrelson and Bessie Lee Berry Goodwin. She went to Kellyton School and later worked at Russell Corp. for 36 years until her retirement. She enjoyed watching hummingbirds and collecting memorabilia of Gecko Lizards and the Pillsburg Doughboy. She also loved cooking and spending time with her family. She was a member of New Elkahatchee Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Hiram Reed of Alexander City; grandchildren, Jeffrey Abbett and Jeromy Abbett, both of Alexander City, Tracy McBride of Union Grove and Johnny Abbett of Lacy Springs; 14 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Sybil Bourque of Montgomery and Merle Cobb of Phoenix City; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jimmy Lee Harrelson.
Radney Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
