Funeral Service for Mr. Hiram Edward Reed, 90, of Alexander City, Alabama, will be Thursday, August 18, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Radney Funeral Home. Dr. Albert Pike will officiate. Burial will follow in the Alexander City Cemetery with Veteran’s Honors provided by the Alexander City Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home.
Mr. Reed passed away on Monday, August 15, 2016 at his residence. He was born on May 31, 1926 in Goodwater, Alabama to Richard Sim Reed and Avie Mae Reed. Mr. Reed owned Reed Upholstery for over 50 years. Mr. Reed loved spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time outdoors cutting grass and fishing. He had many beloved friends in the community and was known by everyone as “Paw Paw.”
He is survived by his daughter, Gloria Jean Abbett of Alexander City; grandchildren, Tracy A. Alligood (Scott) of Alexander City, Jeff Abbett of Alexander City, Johnny T. Abbett (Anita) of Laceys Spring, AL, Jeromy T. Abbett (Tina) of Alexander City; great-grandchildren, Jordan Abbett, Natosha Reaves, Amber Halsey, Edward Halsey, Eden Abbett, Stephanie Abbett, Laura J. Abbett, Brianna Abbett and Alyssa Abbett; and sister, Gertrude Phillips (Dan).
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Nell Reed; parents; sisters, Vera Jones, Maude Locke and great-grandson, Andrew Tate Abbett.
