Individual Details

Thomas Beech Wilson

(4 Feb 1809 - Feb 1884)

Thomas Beech or Beach Wilson was the son of James Wilson and his 1st wife Amelia Brown. Thomas Beech/ Beach Wilson was named after her grandmother's brother Thomas Beech or Beach who died in Halifax County, Virginia and left a will in 1799 leaving his estate to his sister's children. Land from the estate was sold in 1801 and the children of James and Lydia Brown signed for their share. William Brown of Newberry was one of the inheritors.

Thomas had several brothers and sisters. His father James Wilson was the son of James Wilson and his wife Jeanette who migrated to South Carolina in December 1770 from Antrim, Northern Ireland with the Reverend John Renwick who brought over his parishioners
and founded the Kings Creek Associated Reformed Presbyterian Church in the year 1772. James Wilson the son of the immigrant was an Elder of this church. Thomas B. Wilson lived with his family off of King's Creek.

Amelia Brown was the oldest daughter of William Brown and wife Sarah LNU (some say Mathis or Matthews). William Brown brought his family to Newberry, SC around 1800 from North Carolina. William Brown was the only son of James Brown and his wife Lydia Beech/Beach. William Brown had several sisters that married back in Surry County, NC shortly after 1800. More research needs to be done to properly identify exactly where James Brown and his wife Lydia Beach/Beech lived and where they came from. It is very possible that they came originally from Maryland then to Virginia and at some point to North Carolina. There are many James Browns in the area and have to be sorted out. James Brown may have lived in Surry and Wilkes Counties and may have also lived down in Iredell County for awhile.

Around 1830, several related families from Newberry and Lauren's Counties , SC migrated to Graves County, Kentucky. Thomas B. Wilson married Elizabeth Campbell daughter of Joseph Campbell and Janetta (Jincy) Boyd. From Graves County, Kentucky Thomas and his family migrated to Tippah County, Mississippi, Pike County, Arkansas and eventually after some stops in Texas ended up in Harris County, Texas buying land on Green's Bayou 10 miles NE of Houston.

Sometime, before 9 Feb. 1884 Thomas B. Wilson passed away. His wife Elizabeth sold their land on 9 Feb 1884 and was living at the time in Guadalupe County, Texas with her daughter Angeline Elmina Wilson wife of George Monroe Autry.

Leonedas W. Wilson son of Thomas B. Wilson had a son Francis W. Wilson who said he was born March 1883 in Caldwell County, Texas which is located adjacent to Guadalupe County, Texas. This was on his WWII Draft Card.
Leonedas and Mahala his wife sold their property in Harris County, Texas on 7 October 1884. Was the whole family
planning to migrate west when Thomas B. Wilson fell ill?
Both TB Wilson and LW Wilson are on the 1883 Harris County
property tax list.

The burial location of Thomas B. Wilson and his wife Elizabeth Campbell are unknown. If someone should know where they are buried, please contact me Rick Reed at finder5051@sbcglobal.net
