JAMES W. GREER, M.D., a former resident of Wimberley, passed away in New Braunfels, TX at the age of 86. He was born in Blum, Texas, on May 28, 1923 to James E. and Ona Bradshaw Greer.Dr. Greer was a graduate of Baylor University, and Baylor College of Medicine. He retired with the rank of Captain from the U.S. Navy Medical Corp in 1965, and moved to Houston, where he practiced internal medicine until 1978. During this time he served as Chief of Staff at Memorial Southwest Hospital. He moved to Wimberley in 1978, where he served his patients and the community for more than 30 years.He is survived by his wife Carlene of New Braunfels; son, John and his wife Lynda Greer of Wimberley; two daughters, Jane Cardwell and husband Bill of Houston and Julie Greer of Mansfield, TX; sister, Kathryn Kothmann of Junction; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, James B. Greer.Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 13, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Wimberley.
