Ozy Greer Cosby

Ozy Greer Cosby, age 91, of Columbus, passed away on February 2, 2018. His Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 5, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in Columbus with a visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Red Ridge Cemetery in Dadeville, AL.
Ozy was born on December 14, 1926 in Dadeville, Alabama; he is the son of Ocie Francis Cosby and Ethel Exie Greer Cosby. At 16 years old Ozy chose to serve our country by enlisting in the U.S. Navy, serving for four years, during WWII. After coming home he became reacquainted with a gal he knew from grade school, Miss Mabel Pless. Ozy and Mabel just celebrated 70 years of marriage together; they were married January 10, 1948 in Elmore County, AL. Ozy supported his family as a Construction Contractor in our area for many years. He enjoyed working in his vegetable garden and sharing the harvest with others. Ozy will be remembered for many things, two in particular, his work ethic and the love he has for his family.
Ozy is preceded in death by: his parents, a daughter Marsha Gaye Cosby, a son Jeff Cosby, two sisters and three brothers. Survivors include: his wife Mabel; eight children, James (Janelle) Cosby; Melanie Carol Allen; Donnie (Darlene) Cosby; Cathy (Bill) Evans; Faye Cosby; Pam (Benny) Mickle; Barry (Ginger) Cosby; Kim Clark; 17 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.
