Franklin Dwain Holbrook

Franklin Dwain "Doc" Holbrook, 75, of Sheridan died Monday, Feb. 11, 2002, at his home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Champion Ferries Funeral Home with Pastor Stephen Anselmo officiating. Interment will be in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Mr. Holbrook was born June 11, 1926, in Sheridan to Dr. B.F. and Phila (Wilson) Holbrook. The family moved to Thermopolis and Worland, but returned to Sheridan in 1934. Mr. Holbrook attended Linden School and was a 1944 graduate of Sheridan High School, where he was a champion in pingpong and horseshoes, played football and was in the Latin Club and National Honor Society. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1944 and served in Europe, where he was wounded by a sniper in France in March 1945. He attended the University of Berne, Switzerland, a short time before returning home, where he was discharged in May 1946. He was a 1951 graduate of Northwestern College of Chiropractic in Minneapolis and practiced in Worland until 1956, when he moved to Casper. He married Joanne Hoveland in 1968 in Casper. He returned to Sheridan in June 1999. He held 13 state bowling titles and was a member of the Bowlers Hall of Fame. He belonged to the Wyoming and American chiropractic associations and Our Father's House/Open Bible Church in Sheridan. He was preceded in death by a sister, Myrtle Verden, and a brother, Dale. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gus and John, both of Casper; three sisters, Myra Collins and Mereen Klein, both of Phoenix, and Marva Nye of Chadron, Neb.; and five grandsons. Memorials may be made to Our Father's House/Open Bible Church in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank, P.O. Box 2007, Sheridan, WY 82801.
