MODESTO, Calif. — William Verden Jr., 84, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001 at his home. Verden lived in Sheridan from 1918 until 1952 and returned from 1967 to 1975. Burial will be in the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery. Mr. Verden was born June 30, 1916, in Ravenna, Neb. He was a cargo pilot in the Army Air Corps from 1942-1945 and moved to Billings where he was a bus driver for Continental Trailways of Billings for 23 years. He moved to Modesto in 1975 and worked as a salesman for Self Service Furniture for 25 years. Survivors include one daughter, Sally Wax, Gig Harbor, Wash.; one son, Ben Verden, Los Angeles. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Verden; daughter, Nancy Boe; and sister, Frances Brouillette formerly of Sheridan. Memorials are suggested to Community Hospice, 601 McHenry Ave., Modesto, Calif. 95350. Arrangements are pending with Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel in Modesto.

Graveside committal of former Sheridan residents William Jr. and Myrtle Verden will be 3 p.m. Saturday in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with Pastor Bob Miller officiating.
Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mr. Verden died April 4, 2001, in California. Mrs. Verden died Aug. 29, 1997, in California.
