Betty Ann Meigs

Funeral service for Mrs. Betty Ann Hamby, 75, of Daviston, will be Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 3:00 pm at the Mountain Springs Baptist Church. Rev. Tim Whaley and Rev. Jimmy Sprayberry will officiate. She will lie instate for one hour at the Church prior to the service. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Radney Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hamby passed away on Monday, April 5, 2010 at Traylor Nursing Home in Roanoke. She was born on April 10, 1934 in Tallapoosa County to Gaines S. Meigs and Zella Naomi Cotney Meigs. She was a member of Mountain Springs Baptist Church. She graduated from Daviston High School with 12 years of perfect attendance and with straight A's. Mrs. Hamby worked as a secretary at Southern Union State Community College. She loved traveling and working outdoors. She loved horses, fishing and her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, William Allen "Billy" Hamby of Daviston; daughters, Patricia Oliver (Jeff) and Melissa Thornton (Lynn), all of Daviston, Melanie Wilkins (John) of Wadley and Pamela Jones (Larry) of New Site, AL; grandchildren, Austin Oliver, Brittany Oliver, Caleb Oliver, Aerial Wilkins, Luke Wilkins, Makayla Wilkins, Peyton Wilkins, Katie Maples (Shaun), Lynnie Jones, Cole Thornton, Avery Thornton and Isiah Thornton; great-grandchild, Alana Faith Maples; and brother, Clifford Meigs of Daviston.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Grandson's will serve as pallbearers and granddaughter's will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will accept flowers or contributions may be made to the Mountain Springs Baptist Church, 15191 County Road 62, Wadley, AL 36276.
Radney Funeral Home of Alexander City is in charge of the arrangements.
