Leon Leslie Alden was the son of George Marcus Alden and Anna Thomas "Nannie" Graves Alden. He was born in Cairo, Alexander County, Illinois. He had one brother, Wilber Lorraine Alden. He also had two half brothers: Richard Knight and M.C. Knight. Leon married Catherine Elizabeth Mantle on December 2, 1885. They had five children: Nannie B, George Mantle, Jack Leslie, Priscilla Mullins and Leon Leslie Alden. After the loss of his wife Katie, Leon married a second time to Florence M. Carter. Leon Leslie Alden was a direct descendant of Mayflower pilgrims, John Alden & Priscilla Mullins.
