Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Sanford Skinner, 91, of Tylertown, will be held at 11 A.M on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Union Baptist Church with Reverends Doug Lee and Randall Griffin officiating. Burial will be in the Tylertown Cemetery.
Mrs. Skinner passed away at Diversicare-Tylertown on Sunday, May 6, 2018. She was born July 12, 1926 in Walthall County, Mississippi to the late Alexander Benjamin and Martha Eula Boyd Rushing. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Berlon Sanford, and her second husband Porter Skinner; infant children Deloris, David, and Carol Sue; grandson Lynn Beard; brothers Leroy, Ford, Gene and Roger Rushing; sisters Mary Magiline and Mavis White; and step-son Phillip Skinner.
She was a member of Union Baptist Church and a homemaker. She enjoyed listening to music, cooking and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her son Dale (Janice) Sanford; daughter Shirley (Grady) Alexander; brother A. B. (Dean) Rushing, Jr.; sisters Polly (Buel) Boyd, Juanita Holmes, and Sarah McElveen; grandchildren Earnie (Anita) Beard, Tricia (Guy) Thompson, Scott (Misty) Beard, Laurie (Jim) Williams, Gwen (Chris) Lombardi, Holly (Richie) Edens, and Yancey Sanford; fourteen great-grandchildren plus three in-laws; three great-great-grandchildren with another to arrive soon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Reggie Beard, Maurice Beard, Donovan Beard, Devan Hightower, Mickey Brown, and Yancey Sanford. Honorary pallbearers will be Earnie Beard, Scott Beard, and Guy Thompson.
Visitation will be at Union Baptist Church on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 from 5 – 8 P.M. and on Thursday from 9:00 A.M. until service time there at 11:00 A.M.
