Lola Carlyne Skaggs

Wilson, Lola Carlyne, 101, passed away peacefully at home in Santa Ana, CA. December 28, 2009. Lola was born in Lebanon, Kansas on November 5, 1908 to Russell and Susie Skaggs. After her father's death in the flu epidemic of 1918, she moved with her mother from Lebanon to Santa Ana in 1919. She was a graduate of Santa Ana High School and Santa Ana Junior College. Following graduation she went to work for the Orange Grower's Cooperative in the city of Orange. In 1942, she married Robert Clinton Dobson. They had two children, Robert Russell born in 1943 and Dorothy Helen in 1945. They were later divorced. In 1954, she was hired as a secretary to Dr. Milo K. Tedstrom, MD. At the time of her retirement in 1971, as office manager, the practice included Drs. Charles Sears, Robert Ball and Leon Katz. In August 1971, she married Guy Virgil Wilson from Oregon. As a surprise to Virgil, she took up golf which they shared together. She joined the Santiago Women's Golf Club and in 1982, won a tournament taking home the Belden Cup. Virgil passed away suddenly in February 1972. Lola was a life time member of the Ebell Club of Santa Ana. Besides her passion for golf, she was an avid reader, bridge player and loved to travel, especially with the Gourmet Club. She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Miller; brothers, Charlie and Everett Skaggs. She is survived by her children, Robert (Diane) Dobson of Idaho, Dorothy Dobson of Santa Ana; grandsons, Robert (Joy) Dobson, Todd (Jamie) Dobson of Idaho; and great-granddaughters, Megan, Madison, Kristen and Lauren. At her request there will be no service. Her ashes will be scattered at sea. Lola will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
