Notes for Charles Dowson Corner: 1891 Census - RG12/4080/34/9 Charles (15) was working as a Photographer's Apprentice in Barnard Castle. He was lodging in premises with a family in Burtons Yard, Market Place, Barnard Castle. Photographs we have of the Bushby family are generally taken by Charles Dowson Corner. He was known as Hammer Jack in Hartlepool due to his foul temper and hot headedness. Following Annie's death, Maud brought the children up until Charles remarried a lady called Mary Ann (I think). She had 2 children who were doted on. She treated Annie and Charles children with contempt and made their lives miserable. As a result Maud moved out before she married and lived at 30 Richard Street, Hartlepool. She received her apology on the death bed of her stepmother.
