Jane Loyd
(3 Apr 1833 - 3 Aug 1892)
Jane Lloyd was born April 13 [tombstone has April 3], 1833, in North Carolina. At the age of five she moved to Illinois and thence to Iowa. She was married at Mt. Pleasant to Joseph Haines in her 18th year [records show that she was 20], in which year she also gave her heart to Christ and united with the Protestant Methodist Church.
In the fall of 1872 they came to Tabor where they have lived since and where she united with the Baptist Church. Her faith in Christ never wavered. Of her it can be said she "was faithful unto death," and leaves with us the assurance that she now wears the "crown of eternal life."
She leaves a husband and six children, with many friends, to mourn her departure. Others were waiting to welcome her home. Her aged mother, who for some time has made a home with her, preceded her to the better land just one week. She was not afraid of death. Her only sadness was in leaving the dear ones here. But when the time came for her to go she asked each to meet her in heaven, bid them good bye and fell asleep in the arms of her Saviour. Her's was a true and faithful life and a most beautiful death and one of which it may truly be said: "Oh, death, where is thy sting, oh, grave, where is thy victory."
The funeral services were held at her late home on Thursday, August 8, at 2 p. m., after which the body was consigned to its last resting place to await the resurrection of the just.
W. H. CURTIS, Pastor.
