Dr. Ruth Angelina Bruner

Burial will be in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home on Lamy Lane of Monroe.
Dr. Bruner died Thursday at North Monroe Community Hospital after a short illness.
A native of Chickasha, Okla., Dr. Bruner had retired after 40 years of teaching. She was head of the Department of office Administration at Northeast Louisiana University for eight years. While at NLU she was selected by the alumni association as outstanding professor for teaching in 1971.
Her other teaching experiences included 18 years at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches and two years at Arizona State University in Temple. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Memphis State University, the masters of Arts degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., and doctorate from LSU.
She was a member of many professional organizations and active in the Christian Community Ministries of Monroe. She was a member of the First Methodist Church in Monroe.
Survivors include one sister, Lois Beauchamp of Bethel Island, CA. one brother Joe Bruner of Tulsa, OK; three nieces', Naomi May of Scott, AR., Carolyn Voss of Hammond and Suzy Burgess of Marietta, GA., and several great nieces and great nephews.
Pallbearers will be Charles Buck, Dr. Bobby Canterbury, Dr. Robert Harrison, Marcus Mapp, Tom McCann, J. W. Smith, Dr. Dwight Vines and Dr. George Walker.
Memorials may be made to the Ruth Bruner Scholarship Fund in care of the NLU Foundation, Monroe, La. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until noon at the funeral home and from 1:30 p.m. - 3 p.m. at the church.
