Albert Safford

(20 Jul 1856 - 14 Jul 1890)

This bio was compiled from information found on the findagrave memorials of Albert's father #12821631 and Albert's wife #12758241, with additional information on the memorial of Albert's grandson, Floyd #156628812:

Albert's parents are Willard Safford (1829-1905) and Mary Jane Wilson (1833-1865). They were married in Palermo, Oswego County, New York and they became the parents of at least 4 children. Albert was the second child. His mother died around Woodstock, Ontario Providence, West Canada. Albert was just nine years old. His father remarried about five years later in Ontario, Canada.

The family then moved to Maple Grove, Saginaw County, Michigan where Albert married Sarah Elizabeth Foster in 1877. They became the parents of one daughter, Ida Mae, and four sons, Floyd, George, Ernest, and Oscar. Floyd and Ida Mae were born in Michigan. By 1881 when George was born the family had moved to Lyman, Madison County, Idaho. Ernest was also born there and then Oscar was born in Fairfield, Utah.

They moved back to Idaho where Albert, some of his sons, and other relatives were working in Teton County. Albert, son, Ernest, and three others died and were buried in a corner of a plowed field near Driggs. Heavy rains and cultivation uncovered the graves and all the bodies were moved to a more appropriate cemetery. Son, George, took his father and brother's bodies on the train to Eden where they were buried in the Hazelton Cemetery. Family visited the cemetery in the mid 1960s and the graves were still marked at that time. The markers no longer exist. (2016)
