Francis Marion Paul
(14 Nov 1840 - 14 May 1865)
Frances was the son of Daniel McFarland Paul and Elizabeth Helen Walton. He was born in 1840 in Indiana and in 1857 moved with his family to Worth County, Missouri. In 1860 they came to Fremont County locating where Thurman now stands.
Francis married Nancy Holloway on 21 Feb 1861 in Fremont County, Iowa and they had one son, James. James was born Nov 1861 and died Aug 1862 at the age of 9 months.
Francis enlisted in Co A 4th Iowa Cavalry on 15 Dec 1863 at the age of 22. He died from disease on 14 May in Macon County, Georgia. Francis was the brother of William R Paul, who also served with Co A of the 4th Iowa Cavalry.
Nancy died within two years of the death of Francis.
