Walter Dean Moore, 68, of Soda Springs, Idaho, passed away at home on Wednesday evening, April 5, 2000. He was born December 11, 1931, at Soda Springs, the son of Walter James and Elsie Marie Hopkins Moore. He spent his entire life in Soda Springs, he loved this town. He graduated from Soda Springs High School in 1949 and the Salt Lake School of Telegraphy. He married Jackie Coombs July 5, 1951, at Soda Springs.
He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a freight agent, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Soda Springs LDS Second Ward and also a member of the Soda Springs Lions Club for 15 years. He enjoyed fishing, camping, woodworking and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Dean is survived by his wife, Jackie, of Soda Springs; a son, Steve and Kaye Moore, Soda Springs, two daughters, Linda and Fred Van Dyke, Orange City, Iowa, and Lori Moore, Soda Springs; also seven grandchildren; and two sisters, Emma Jean Call, Rexburg, Idaho, and Lennis Lewis, Soda Springs, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday, April 10, 2000, at the Soda Springs LDS Stake Center, with Bishop Stanley Dorius officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home.
