Shirley May Stanley

Shirley Hall, 89, of Windsor Heights, Iowa, formerly of Tama, Iowa, died on Monday, May 3, 2021, at her daughters' home under the care of UnityPoint Hospice - Des Moines. Graveside services at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama.
Shirley was born on June 6, 1931, the daughter of Glen and Gretel Blanche (Isom) Stanley in Thurman, Iowa. She graduated from Thurman High School in 1949. She earned a Bachelors Degree from Drake University and a Masters Degree from The University of Iowa.
Shirley married Theodore Ivory Hall Jr. on May 29, 1955 [Note: Her husband's obituary says 1956]. Shirley was a devoted and highly regarded teacher the South Tama County Community School district from 1971 to 1993, earning the 1992 Teacher of the Year Award from the Hiram of Tyre Masonic Lodge 203. She always loved her students.
Shirley was a former President of EW Chapter of P.E.O., a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and an active member of the United Methodist Church in Tama. She was involved in women's circle, choir and taught Sunday School as well as organized Bible School. You could always find Shirley gardening and studying her herbs.
She is survived by her two daughters, Lori (Jeff) Lacina of Olathe, Kansas, and Melissa (Darin) Davis of Windsor Heights, Iowa; four grandchildren, Grant Lacina of Olathe, Kansas, Ivory Lacina of North Kansas City, Missouri, Maxwell Lacina of Olathe, Kansas, and Grayson Sinning of Des Moines, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted, an infant son, Theodore Ivory Hall III, and her brother Larry Stanley.
Memorial contributions will be donated to Wesley Day Services in Des Moines for their loving care of Shirley for nearly eight years.
