CRAWFORD, William P. William (Bill) Potts Crawford, age 88, died on Saturday, January 3, 2009. He was born March 26, 1920 in Lincoln, AL to the late Marvin Jackson Crawford and Lucille Rebecca Carpenter Crawford. He was preceded in death by sisters Rebecca Chandler, Helen Crawford, and Sara McDaniel and brother Marvin Crawford. Bill graduated from The Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University) on February 28, 1943 with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree. Bill also served in the U.S. Navy. Bill worked for Allis Chalmers, Cleveland Electric, and Cobb County Marietta Water Authority. Bill was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Marietta, GA and was a former member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Doraville, GA. Bill is survived by his wife, June Haas Crawford (Marietta, GA), his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Jack Hawkins (Marietta, GA), daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Mike Osborne (Suwanee, GA), two grandchildren, Maureen Elizabeth Osborne and James Patrick Osborne (Suwanee, GA), and niece, Lynn Baxter (Birmingham, AL). He is further survived by other relatives and many friends. A Memorial Service for Bill will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 10, 2009 at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 4814 Paper Mill Road, Marietta, GA 30067. The body was donated to the Emory University School of Medicine.
