Sara Elizabeth Crawford

Sara Elizabeth Crawford McDaniel, of Ormond Beach, Florida, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2008, at the age of 81. She had been living in Birmingham, Alabama since 2004. Sara was born in Lincoln, Alabama on March 4, 1927, and graduated from Lincoln High School and Jacksonville State University. She pursued her teaching career shortly after at Edgewood Elementary in Homewood, Alabama and retired from Pine Trails Elementary in Ormond Beach in 1990. She was a respected educator and treasured her time with her students. Sara is survived by her daughter, Lynn McDaniel Baxter, and Lynn's husband, Billy; her grandsons, Will and Cary Baxter, all of Birmingham. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, William P. and June Crawford of Atlanta; nieces, Barbie (Jack) Hawkins, and Suzy (Mike) Osborne, & their children, Patrick and Elizabeth Osborne. In addition, her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jack and Billie McDaniel of Crossville, Alabama; and, all of the McDaniel's and Shipp's who were her beloved extended family.She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Lucille Crawford; her brother, Marvin Crawford; and, sisters, Rebecca Chandler and Helen Crawford. A memorial service was held at Asbury Methodist Church in Birmingham on Monday, November 10, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any local Red Cross chapter or favorite charity.
