Funeral services for Thomas Charles "Bubber" Burnett, Jr., age 87, of Hollandale will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 23 at the First United Methodist Church, Hollandale. He died Tuesday, December 21 at Delta Regional Medical Center, Greenville. Burial will follow in the Hollandale Cemetery. All services are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Leland.
Mr. Burnett was born May 15, 1923 to Thomas Charles and Willie Mae Walcott Burnett in Hollandale. He lived in Hollandale all of his life. Mr. Burnett attended the University of Mississippi, Hinds Jr. College and was in the United States Navy. He served on the Hollandale School Board, the Hollandale Gin Company, the Methodist Church Administrative Board and on the Board of the Bank of Hollandale for many years. Mr. Burnett enjoyed his favorite hobbies of hunting, fishing, golfing, gardening, and cooking. He was a dedicated husband, father, and friend to many people. He was always particularly proud of the achievements of being an Eagle Scout and serving as a Lieutenant Naval Aviator in the United States Navy. 
Mr. Burnett was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Allene Bryan Burnett, his parents, and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Burnett Rice.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary Allene Hairston (Ira) and 2 sons, Thomas Charles Burnett III and Robert Walcott Burnett, all of Hollandale; 2 grandchildren, Kemp Hairston (Ellyn) of Natchez and Mary Bryan Hairston of Hollandale; and 2 great-grandsons, Fred Dow Hairston and Jacob Thomas Hairston, both of Natchez; and a sister, Myrtis Burnett Greer of Anguilla.
Ministers for the service will be Reverends Eric Sanford and Grover Greer. Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Holland, Roy Schilling, Barry Fontenot, Dale Ramsey, Chuck Cage, and Bland Peyton.
The family will receive friends 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 22 at the Boone Chapel in Hollandale. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Hollandale or a charity of the donor's choice.
