85, died peacefully at her Clarkston home surrounded by family Wednesday, July 16, 2003. She was suffering with progressive supranuclear palsy.
Evelyn was born to Zena and Elmer Elwood in Mason City, IA, December 8, 1917. She was the second of eight children. She was the beloved mother of Warren Willier and Patrick Morrison. Evelyn married Warren (Sy) Willier in 1935. The marriage ended in divorce.
She married Leonard P. Morrison in 1941. Leonard worked for the goverment and they made their home in the Panama Canal Zone after World War II. Later they moved to PA, MD and finally settled in Tucson, AZ, where they lived for 20 years. Leonard died in 1991. In 1992, Evelyn married James Dayton McCormick and they divided their time between Tucson and Sequim, WA. Evelyn and Dayton moved to Clarkston in March 2003 to be near her sons.
In her husband Dayton’s words, “Evelyn made her love real in thoughful acts of caring and making one feel welcome, comforted and consoled. Spirits were lifted, hearts warmed and minds quickened whenever Evelyn was near.” Evelyn’s intelligence and hard work ethic served her well throughout her life.
She is survived by her husband, Dayton McCormick of Clarkston; sons, Warren Willier of Kennewick and Patrick Morrison of Clarkston; sisters, Cloy Huntress of Long Beach, CA, Virginia Grieman of Mission Viejo, CA, and Kay Green of Virginia Beach, VA. She has several wonderful grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Zena Elwood; brothers, Ivan, Joe and Bud; and a sister, Beverly.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Merchant Funeral Home in Clarkston.
