State and County of New York: In the Supreme Court of New York County
I, Constantain DeKeos, aged 32 years, occupation Florist, do declare on oath that my personal description is: color White; complexion Dark; height 5'8"; weight 140 pounds; color of hair Black, color of eyes Brown; other visible distinctive marks: none. I was born in Varara Greece on the 21 day of March 1878; I now reside at 256 Willis Ave, New York City, NY. I emigrated to the United States of America from Havre on the vessel LaTouraine; my last foreign residence was Vasara Greece. It is my bona fide intention to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty, and particularly to George I, King of the Greeks, of which I am now a subject. I arrived at the port of New York in the State of New York, on or about the 23 day of November, 1896. I am not an ararchist; I am not a polygamist nor a believer in the practice of polygamy; and it is my intention in good faith to become a citizen of the United States of America and to permanently reside therein: So Help Me God.
Signed: Constantain DeKeos.
Subscribed and sworn to before me at New York City, this 25 day of November 1910. William F. Schneider, Clerk of the Supreme Court.
(copy of Declaration of Intention in our files)
NOTE: The only day that LaTouraine arrived in NYC in 1896 was November 14. There was no one on that ship with the name Konstantine Dekeos or any derivative thereof (www.ancestry.com - searched on April 29, 2009)
NOTE: I could not find a Petition for Naturalization for DeKeos.
On www.italiangen.org I found a Kastantinas Dekeris, petition #202131; petition volume 694; year 1935. I wrote to the NYC archives and received his record, but it is not my Constantain DeKeos. (I discarded the record).
