Paul Zachary Geaneas
(April 20, 1950 - January 18, 2013)
Paul Zachary Geaneas Passed away on Jaunary 18, 2013 at the age of 62. His wife, children, and mother were by his side after a hard fought battle with cancer.
Paul was born April 20th, 1950 in New York City and grew up in various places around the world with 0his parents being in the Foreign Service. He attended Saint John’s University and graduated with his Juris Doctorate in 1975. Paul served as a special agent for the State Department from 1976 to 1979. He worked for Mobil Oil Corporation from 1979 to 2000, specializing in anti-terrorism. In 2002 he co-founded Corporate Security Concepts, a successful security firm specializing in international counter-terrorism.
Upon moving to Leesburg in 1990, Paul became involved with the Loudoun County Volunteer Rescue Squad as an EMT, and even served as President in 1997. He loved coaching his children in local youth sports. In his spare time, Paul enjoyed rescuing German Shepherds with The Virginia German Shepherd Rescue and All Shepherd rescues. He loved spending this past summer boating, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren.
All who knew him, especially his family, will remember Paul as a hard working and dedicated family man. He loved helping out his children in any way and had a special bond with each of his grandchildren. Paul was a remarkable person who was very much loved and will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Cindy Geaneas of Leesburg, VA; mother Vivian Geaneas of Denville, NJ; sister and brother-in-law Fay Lynne and Patrick Manturi of Long Valley, NJ; son and daughter-in-law Michael and Alicia Geaneas and granddaughter Caroline of Leesburg, VA; son and daughter-in-law Christopher and Katie Geaneas and granddaughter Addison of Leesburg, VA; daughter and son-in-law Lauren and Niko Eckart, granddaughter Sofia and grandson Nikolas of Purcellville, VA.
The viewing will be held on Monday, January 21, 2013 at The colonial Funeral Home in Leesburg from 6-8 PM, followed by funeral services on Tuesday, January22, 013 at 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Paul’s name to The Virginia German Shepherd Rescue P.O. Box 126 Sterling, VA 20167.
