Individual Details
Nikolaos Doukas
(Bef 1850 - )
Name from Bill Doukas, 2016. He gave me a family tree when I saw him in Florida
Neil Dukas email to Carol Kostakos Petranek, December 13, 2024 (email to SpartanRoots1@gmail.com):
My Cousin, Butchie (John Doukas), tells me that you may be branching into research on the Doukas side of the family now that you’ve completed (?) the Semetis line. If so‒just in case you aren’t already‒I wanted to make sure that you connect with the most knowledgeable (Doukas) family historian, Vasileios Douka (Βασιλης Δουκας, sometimes goes by Bill Doukas), bdouka07@gmail.com or doukasvasileios59@gmail.com
Vasili wrote the definitive book on the Doukas family history (589 pages! with detailed histories and many family trees going back to 1743): ΛΑΜΠΟΚΑΜΠΟΣ-ΠΙΣΤΑΜΑΤΑ ΖΑΡΑΚΑ, Διαδομή μέσα στο χρόνο. Unfortunately, Vasili doesn’t speak much English and his book is entirely in Greek. As I reminded Butchie, the family in Greece (hailing from the village of ΛΑΜΠΟΚΑΜΠΟΣ) lost touch with our family in America in 1929 and didn’t reconnect until my visit in 2019, so Vasili’s book missed most of that “recent” history or had it a bit muddled (for us to fill in, I suppose). I did what I could to bring him up to speed, but it was a lot for both of us to take in one afternoon.
