Name from Susan Abrahamsen email to Carol Kostakos Petranek, August 4, 2019:
My grandfather: John Christakos (Christie) b. 1885 in St. John, d. 1950 in E. Rutherford, NJ My great grandfather: Speridon Christakos b. 1853 in St. John My great grandmother: Anna Gavakos b. about 1853 in St. John My grandfather's brothers: Christos Christakos (Christie) b. 1870 in St. John, d. 1934 in Brooklyn, and Constantine Christakos (Christie) b. 1875 in St. John, d. 1970 in Brooklyn. ..The only record I have indicating that my Christakos family came from St. John is on my grandfather's brother's naturalization application where he states he was born in Agios Ioannis in Sparta. All other records just say Sparta, Greece.
According to ships records, Speridon, who came for a visit in 1903, was a widower, indicating Anna died around or before 1903. His occupation was listed as 'merchant'. Speridon was listed as deceased on his son, Constantine's, passport application for a visit back to Greece in 1923, indicating Speridon died around or before 1923. Constantine also went back to Greece in 1907 to get married. He married a woman named Eugenia (Iphigenia).
