"PIONEER PASSES Charles L. Mehrten, 88, died Thursday night at hishome in Oakland. Mr. Mehrten, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Lousi Mehrten,pioneers of Tulare county, was born in Calavares county. He moved,with his parents, to Tulare county when a child and spent most of hislife in this part of the state. The family home of his parents wasabout four miles west of Lemon Cove nad the Cottale Post office road.One sister, Mrs. Tom Homer of Lemon Cove, and a brother, JamesMehrten, of Three Rivers survive him. Mrs. Homer and her son, EdwardHomer, of Porterville attended the funeral services in Oakland onMonday."
