The Piqua Daily Call (Piqua, Ohio). 9 Feb 1945, at ancestry.com has an item datelined "Bradford - MM2/C Paul Weider was guest of honor at a dinner given him by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Weider, covers being placed for" various couples, including "Mr. and Mrs. Dwain McDowell and sons", and Mrs. Raymond Condon.
From the above, the implication is drawn that Duane had at least two sons before Feb. 1918.
The Piqua Daily Call (Piqua, Ohio), 19 Nov 1945, at ancestry.com has under Real Estate Transfers:
" Duane E. McDowell of Pittsburg, O., to Edward P. Helmick, one lot West Milton."
Same paper on 26 Nov 1945:
"Duane E. McDowell, et al, to Edward F. Helmick, lot, West Milton."
